The main objective of the meeting was to present and discuss the action plan for the first project year and to inform the European Commission about the planned reporting procedures and administrative arrangements of the implementing consortium.
Invited by the lead partner, Ms. Virginie De Ruyt and Ms. Wang Jue from the Delegation of the European Commission in China participated in the meeting together with representatives from all project partners and associates.
The Delegate and Chief Representative of the Delegation of German Industry and Commerce in Beijing, Ms. Jutta Ludwig, indicated the significance of the project to Chinese and German enterprises in her opening address and pointed out the substantial expertise that German companies are able to offer in the field of sustainable production. Ms. De Ruyt presented objectives and priorities of the SWITCH-Asia initiative and stressed the importance of resource efficiency to Chinese enterprises in order to allow them to benefit from cost savings. Subsequently the strategy and objectives for the first project year have been outlined and the planned project activities have been presented in detail by the Project Team Leader, Mr. Igor Darbo.
The successful kick-off meeting offered an important opportunity for the implementing consortium to reconfirm project priorities and to inform the European Commission of the current project status and upcoming events.
