On-Site Baseline Assessment at Tongfang Luying, Linyi, Shandong Province, 23 April 2010
On 23rd April 2010, the project team accompanied by Fraunhofer IZM expert Karsten Schischke paid a visit to Shangdong Qinghua Tongfang Luying Electronics Co., Ltd, which is one of the pilot SMEs selected in the Bohai Basin region to take part in the project training and assessment program. With its headquarters and manufacturing site both based in the city of Linyi in Shangdong province, the company is specialized in manufacturing ceramic capacitors and multilayer chip inductors. An important supplier for Hisense, Tongfang Luying has passed the ISO9001 Quality Management System and ISO14001 Environmental Management System.
The visit was planned as a follow up activity after an in-depth exchange between Mr. Su Qiang, Manager of the Corporate Management Department and the SWITCH-Asia experts panel had taken place on the occasion of the pilot SMEs training workshop held in Qingdao on April 12th-13th. The main objective of the visit to Tongfang Luying was to identify the hot spots in the manufacturing process in terms of eco-efficiency, occupational health and safety and corporate social responsibility with a view to designing a customized Action Plan for the company.
An introductory meeting was held with the representatives from the Capacitor Production Department and the Quality Management Department along with Mr. Xing Nianlei, the Sales Manager for North China in charge of the capacitor/inductor business with Hisense.
After the meeting, the project experts visited the factory accompanied by Mrs. Wang Shijiao – the Director of Capacitor Production Department. Mrs. Wang introduced the company’s production steps, processes and technologies while visiting the workshops for ceramic sintering, electro-plating, silver painting, sorting, packaging, etc.
As a result of the visit and discussions between the company’s engineers and the project experts, specific areas of resource efficiency improvement were identified including the electricity consumption of the industrial furnaces and the introduction of resource flow accounting methods. Detailed proposals and technical references are expected to follow from the project experts after Tongfang Luying provides more data and information on the equipment as well as the resource consumption status of its various workshops.
